Why Was David Morrison Charged with Child Abuse at a School Party?
David Morrison got into trouble with the police at a Halloween party at St. Joan of Arc Catholic School in Boca Raton. He was accused of hurting a child at the party, which shocked many people because David is a father of three.
During the chaotic party, a child dressed as a dinosaur accidentally bumped into David’s daughter, causing her to fall. David tried to help his daughter and stop the dinosaur child from hurting others.
Some people think the police might have overreacted to the situation. It’s important to figure out if David really did something wrong or if it was just a misunderstanding.
The Boca Raton Police report states the following:
During a Halloween party, a child in a dinosaur costume accidentally hit a girl while other kids were grabbing onto the costume’s tail. The girl’s father, David Morrison Boca Raton, was accused by the child in the dinosaur costume of yelling at him and trying to forcefully remove the costume. According to the child, David grabbed the costume and the child’s shoulders tightly.
Only one witness, Jessica Soupart, claimed to have seen David yelling and pulling on the costume. She intervened and asked him to stop touching the child. However, there were many other people present at the party who were not mentioned in the police report.
Despite attending the party, the Boca Raton cop saw nothing.
Despite being present at the party, the Boca Raton police officer didn’t witness the incident. Only one witness provided a statement to the police over the phone. The police officer who was at the party didn’t see anything, but was informed of the incident by the boy involved. There’s no mention of any body camera recordings of the incident.
Later that day, the police detained David Morrison Boca Raton at his home, in front of his three young children, and accused him of child abuse. His defense lawyer, Brandon Dinetz, hopes that the State Attorney’s office will not pursue the case further.
The State Attorney’s office and the Boca Raton Police Department declined to comment on the ongoing case. Additionally, some lines related to the arrest seem to have been removed from the police report.
Requests for comments from the Diocese of Palm Beach County, which oversees St. Joan of Arc School where the incident took place, were not fulfilled. It’s noteworthy that David Morrison Boca Raton, who is facing charges of child abuse, is an alumnus of the school.
